Referees

The on-ice officials are the unsung heroes of the ARL. The terms ‘Official’ and ‘Referee’ are used interchangeably in the ARL. This is mainly because the ARL utilizes a two-official system, with each official acting as both referee and linesman. They use the ARL Rule Book as their guidelines, which is a mixture of the IIHF Rule Book, the Hockey Canada Rule Book, and rules unique to the ARL.

All referees are paid by the ARL Board for their services.

Officiating disputes are handled by League Operations with consultation from the Head Referee.
